Music Edit Request

Welcome!

Please read through the instructions (below the form) in order to submit your music request.

You will find some simplified instructions that can make the whole tailoring process easier.

After you have familiarized yourself with the instructions: Fill out the form as best you can, and do not worry if certain things are hard to explain. You can always say "I'm not sure how to explain what i would like here."

  • For more detailed instructions I would suggest writing all needed instructions upon a different platform (email draft, Google doc draft, etc), and then copy/pasting the completed text/verbiage work into the *Request - Your message* window.

You will receive an email from me either confirming the work order, or the first version of your requested edit: within your submitted completion date. *See Pricing section of instructions

Hello!

Thank-you for choosing The Music Tailor - Visa V for your audio tailoring! I strive to bring you the highest quality audio edits with a quick turn around.

Your audio will be tailored directly to your instructions, and will most likely take a few versions in order to obtain your final cut.

Guarantee:

-Every one of my edits comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee! If you are not satisfied with the edit there is no charge to you.

-Every edit is subject to multiple versions of the audio, at no extra charge. Tailored audio takes time and communication, therefore you should expect to get multiple versions during the tailoring process. Think of this the same way you get your garments tailored. You have to go in first for measurements, then a few more times for fitting, before it is perfect.

Instructions:

Start by listing your cut point(s) for the track(s) one at a time. Please use "Time-Stamps" for these instructions:
-List how you would like your music to be spliced, ie... "track 1" = 4:30 total time (the track that you upload in the form)

example instructions: "track 1" I want the first :30 sec cut and play through until 1:00. Then cut from 1:00 to 2:00. play the rest of the track from 2:00 until the end.

   Track 1 original = 4:30
Track 1 Visa edit = 3:00 *this represents the new edit's total time, but you don't need to calculate this for the submitted instructions

-Multiple tracks mashed/mixed together:
Upload all tracks needed for final edit. Give precise "Time-Stamps" for cutting and splicing of each track, and a brief explanation of the audio "event" that is the priority, ie...

   example :

"Track 1" ends at 2:15 after the big cymbal crash.

"Track 2" starts at 1:45 after the guitar solo. Let "Track 2" play till the end

*note that you can add a lot more editing notes than this simplified description

-Mixing (Advanced notations):

This is not a needed entry unless there are specific behaviors that you would like your transitions to emulate.

   example:

"Track 1" ends at 2:15 after the big cymbal crash.

"Track 2" starts at 1:45 after the guitar solo. Let "Track 2" play till the end

I would like the edited tracks to be beat matched and blended together to soften the transition.

*note that most mixing transitions are dictated by numerous factors and are typically decided by the sound engineer, but you can change any aspect of your edit, even after you receive a tailored version.

-Sound effects, Sound bites, Quotes, Excerpts from movies, etc:
These can be easily added to your instructions by including the link within your wording (as well as including all links in the "Link(s) - Copy/Paste" window)

If you do not have a specific sound effect and would like me to utilize my best judgement to find it for you: simply include it in your message...

  • For example:

    • Specific Sound effect: "I'm building a Star Wars routine and I'd like to have the Lightsaber sound at 1:24 in my music. This video has the perfect one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ey3g6BmuTI - please sample the one at 0:29 in this video."

    • Unspecified Sound Effect: "I'd like for my track to end with a large explosion! Use your best judgement for this sample."

-After effects:
Anything can be done to any part of the audio:

-Echo/reverb: Has many uses.. Anything from making something sound bigger, or more important to giving older tracks a more modern sound, and breathe life into audio that is monophonically recorded (right and left side output is identical).

-Turntable manipulations:

  • Scratching - Rhythmic pattern of violently moving the audio in reverse or standard to the percussion of the music

  • Drops - Rhythmic pattern of 'cutting' the audio in and out to the percussion of the music

  • Deaths - The effect sounds like time slowing down. It is cutting the power of the turntable and letting the music 'die' from slow-motion to no motion.

  • Fades - The equalization of Low-range/Mid-range/High-range cutting out independently of each other.

  • Mixing - The art of matching the BPM or speed of 2 or more different songs and blending them together matching the percussions and their elements.

-Vocal effects: echoing, doubling, re-mastering, or soundscaping to name a few...

-Audio Element Removal: Remove vocals, instruments, or any other centric element while keeping the remaining elements intact

  • Instrumental tracks (or Vocal Element Removal) are time-consuming and still in the beta phase of software development. Removal requests are accepted on a case by case basis.

Don't hesitate to ask by using "time-stamps" in your message...

Guidelines:
- Submit via this website.
- List precisely what you want edited using "Time-stamps"

- Submit purchased audio files or links to the desired music in the correct fields on the form

-Pricing:

My edits range in price, but start at $35.00 and typically do not exceed $75.00. Your edit price will be determined after your order is completed. Payment for your edit is due after you receive your final edit, and you are satisfied with it. Any edit that surpasses the $75.00 point will receive a notification before continuing the process (this is extremely rare).

  • Re-Mastering: modifying the final sound of a track by only changing or adding to its sonic qualities (no cutting and splicing). These re-masters are some of the fastest and cheapest for me to do, and typically do not exceed the $35.00 price point

-Finder's Fee- Un-purchased, Ripped, or Converted audio that has higher quality version for sale

It is a priority of mine to get you the highest quality recordings of your desired audio. Upon your request I can identify the quality of your submitted audio, as well as seek out the highest fidelity versions. There is a simple $15.00 "Finder's Fee" for any tracks that can be readily purchased upon a quality platform or website.

  • This fee does not apply to samples or sound-bites taken from different streaming services or websites (YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, movies, t.v. shows, etc). For these samples simply give me the link and I will utilize my equipment and software to get the best version possible. Please include time-stamp instructions for these video links.

-Expedited fees/Policy- *revoked*

  • My time and availability Disclaimer: I have a bit of a hectic schedule that changes drastically from time to time, and I perform this work in-between my regular schedule... I typically get first drafts/final edits done within 3-7days, but I may not respond to your order immediately after you submit. I have experienced a few clients who need things done ASAP (say 48hrs or less). I no longer want to put them or myself in that stressful situation, so instead of my old ways of having expedited fees; I will now handle these edits on a more controlled level. Typically my first response to your submission is with the first draft of your edit. Basically try to give a couple of weeks for complex work orders before they are to hit the stage...

Terminology:

"Time stamp": this is the measurement on the music player as you see it playing.

Start playing a song on any media player (iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, etc) and you will see this -0:00- after one second -0:01-. All measurements are on this rule.

Edit Versions: Your first edit will have "1.0" in the title, the next will have "2.0" so on and so forth... If more changes need to be made (they almost always do) we will be referring to the newest/latest version's "Time-Stamps" not any from the original audio.

"Events": This is a word that describes your priority in the audio, for example: a guitar solo, when the singer says 'love it', right before the drums kick in, right after the drums kick in, etc. Think of using the term as you would a highlighter.

Organization and storage:

Labeling and TAG fields:

The edits that you receive will be labeled in a way that makes them easier to locate, and to identify. The audio files have different fields that I modify when I label your track:

  • [track name] - I will utilize the name of your act or the original song title(s) followed by the version of your edit

    • Example:

      • original song titles - Closer (NIN) - Wannabe (Spice Girls)

      • Performer moniker - Tator Tits

      • Edit version: 4.0

    • This is how the audio file will look on a media player (iTunes):

      • Tator Tits is Closer to Spice 4.0 - Tator Tits

Multiple versions of tailored audio:
I have noticed that there has been an issue caused by having multiple versions of a performer's music (when your final version is a higher # than 1.0). For example: if your final edit is "5.0" you actually have received and downloaded five different versions of your music, and only one of them is the correct or "final" one. For this reason please follow these simple steps to insure that you send the proper file to show producers:

1. Once you are satisfied with your edit DELETE all other edits from your computers, devices, and libraries. I keep all the edits, versions, and projects saved on my hard-drives and can re-send you a copy of your edit in case anything happens to your computer, device, or copy.

2. Do not re-name the file. Some software requires that the name of the file on the hard-drive or device match the title of the track within the audio player, and you will not discover this issue until the conductor (music player) attempts to play it night of the show.

Storage:

All of my edits including the different drafts are saved and backed up with these features

  • External Hard Drive copy

  • Drive Cloud storage

  • E-Mail recovery

Export and delivery:

- All finished edits will be sent via your submitted email address, attached as an MP3  (320k bitrate)
- At your request I can send the lossless WAV file through Google Drive (this file size almost always exceeds the MB limit for email).

Thanks again for visiting my site!!!
